Although loads of wind forecast over the Christmas period it looks like it's going to go offshore with poor tides for our river venues so today seemed the best bet to get wet over the holiday :) Rob and I checked the local beaches at about 10 and even with the tide approaching low water there was not a soul about, not even a kitesurfer:( but with steady winds of over 18 knots I decided to head to The Dip and hope someone turned up as I didn't fancy alone on a cloudy December day! The sea actually looked OK and enough wind for 6.5 but still no one about then Swainy senior arrived to check it out, he decided to return home to get his kit so I rigged and was ready to go when he returned. I was the guinea pig before Mark decided on sail choice??? The first run out I was under powered with 6.5 so Mark went for 7.3. By the time Mark had rigged I had gone from a 20 kt run to 24 kts as the wind had filled in! I upped it to 26 kts as the wind increased even more but the sea became a horrible lumpy mess and the sea was very cold so we decided to call it a day as it was not much fun:( Nick and Nathan were out on smaller kit but they were welcome to it, cold, grey and lumpy! not like last December when I sailed 13 times mainly in 12/13 degrees!
Then my new GT-31 failed to save the session which is why I replaced my last gps!!! :( There is nothing on the card, I tried plugging the unit into the laptop but it wont come up so can't check if there is anything on the internal memory - any ideas anyone ????
